As a College community we are actively following advice from four key sources: Federal and State governments; the relevant Federal and State Health Departments; Independent Schools Victoria (peak association for independent schools); and the Department of Education.

Not all of the measures the College has undertaken have been informed by this approach. For instance, there has been no directive for schools to provide financial assistance to families, but the College thought it important to support our community in this way.

The College would particularly like to acknowledge ISV for its support during this time. Much of the information delivered by Federal and State governments has been contradictory and required clarification. ISV has directly liaised with both governments to provide accurate interpretations for its member schools.

A range of documentation has been supplied to schools relevant to particular areas. Below are some of the department and association websites that give an overview of the current recommendations.

Return to School

In Victoria, the State government has declared its State of Emergency will remain until the previously announced end date of midnight on Monday, May 11. We will continue to monitor any announcements made by the State and Federal governments and convey College decisions to our community in due course.

The College has decided that Kinder programs will return to on-campus learning on Monday, May 4, in line with advice regarding Early Childhood programs.

Remote Learning for Term 2

Since the beginning of this year, the College has sought advice in its decision-making around the coronavirus (COVID-19) from four key sources: Federal and State governments; the relevant Federal and State Health Departments; Independent Schools Victoria (peak association for independent schools); and the Department of Education.

This information has helped inform the Response Team’s decision-making, which includes Senior Staff, the College Nurse, and general staff managers from the administration, IT, HR, Accounts and Communications departments. Where appropriate, the College Board has also been involved in high-level decision-making.

Please find the latest principal addresses about the Remote Learning Mode for Term 2 relevant to your child.

What You Can Do

We are continuing to enforce good hygiene practices. We ask that you also have these conversations with your child(ren). These include:

- Practicing good handwashing hygiene (especially before eating and after visiting the toilet). Wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds. Dry your hands with paper towel or a warm hand dryer.

- Discouraging children from touching their face/mouth.

- When blowing a nose, put the used tissue in the bin and wash hands immediately after.

- If coughing or sneezing, cover it well with a tissue (throw the used tissue in the bin), or cough or sneeze into your arm or clothing and wash your hands thoroughly after.

- If your child is unwell, such as a temperature, cough, runny nose or headache, please keep your child at home until they feel better. If there has potentially been exposure to the coronavirus, please seek medical assistance by calling your GP, your local Emergency Department, or Healthdirect on 1800 022 222.
