Welcoming Back Students & New Staff

After the holidays, including a week of professional development for staff, it is wonderful to see our students back. We have also had the pleasure of welcoming new staff members at Melton!

A warm welcome back to you as we begin Semester 2. I do hope that all College families were able to enjoy time with each other over the Winter break. It is simply delightful to see the students back after their three-week holiday.

During the last week of the term break, both Melton and Werribee staff joined together for professional learning, where we were able to focus on a number of key areas. This included participating in first aid training, learning more about our obligations regarding the recently updated Child Safe Standards, attending teaching and learning sessions and taking some time to consider the intersection of our Christian faith and schooling.

Recently I was very much encouraged by correspondence received from one school family regarding their experiences at the Melton campus in Semester 1. Taking the time to support and build up our team is very much appreciated. Being mindful of the challenges that exist before us all in 2022, it is especially pleasing to receive such kind words of affirmation.

It is important to note that over the winter break we had a few changes to the staff at Melton. With Chelsea Tusjak moving from the Melton Administration team to a position at the Werribee campus, Candy Nadar has joined the team in the role of Daily Organiser and Timetabler. Additionally, we welcome John Boothby as a new member to our Secondary Pastoral Care team and will initially be onsite each Thursday and Friday.

Joining our Secondary teaching team is Mr Chad de Kretser. Mr de Kretser is an experienced teacher in several subjects including Information Technology, Mathematics and Physical Education. He will be teaching Year 8 and 9 Physical Education and Secondary Mathematics and Christian Life Studies. With the arrival of Mr de Kretser, Mr Mason Hsiao will now be teaching Secondary Science in Semester 2.

We would very much appreciate your prayers as we begin this Term. For those families who have Secondary aged children, our Melton teaching team look forward to speaking with you next at our Secondary Parent Teacher Conversations.
