Last week saw our first in-person VCE Information Night in two years and it was terrific to see the auditorium filled with students and parents. A trio of presenters worked through key information on how the VCE is structured, post-school pathways and the VCE subject selection process.
A key element this year was to introduce the changes that are coming to VCE for 2023, with the removal of the VCAL Pathway and the introduction of the new VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM).
After the main presentation, parents and students could head next door to our subject fair with VCE teachers manning stalls for all our subjects and eager to answer questions. With 36 internal subjects to choose from and only 6 subjects choices for Year 11, there is a lot to consider!
Our current Year 10 students are now in the process of submitting their subject preferences this week, with finalisation taking place over the next few weeks. Each Year 10 student has a personal appointment with our Pathways and Careers Coordinator, Mrs Bawden, to ensure they are set up for success in VCE.
This year we have produced a booklet to help guide families through the basics of the VCE – you are welcome to download your own copy. If you are interested in the range of subjects we are offering to our students this year, I invite you to browse our VCE Subject Selection Handbook.
