Our Expression of Student Life

From our recent Open Day to assemblies and camps, it's delightful to see our school environment filled with life.

The Melton campus of Heathdale Christian College has many outstanding features. It’s always delightful to see the environment in which we are seeking to promote Christian education.

Last Thursday, between recess and lunch, was one of those occasions as we enjoyed an Open Day. It was a pleasure to have so many families attending and looking for an enrolment in 2024. At Heathdale Christian College, Open Day tours are often led by our student leaders. With respect to this I am grateful to our student leaders for their enthusiasm toward their school. Thank you so much for hosting us.

As the year progresses, we are starting to see the full expression of student life. The Primary Assemblies have begun. Last Thursday, the Year 3-6 Assembly featured the Year 6 class’s lively performance on being Image Bearers (of God). This week, of course, we have our Year P-2 Assembly. Parents are very much welcome to attend when their children are participating.

Other signs of the breadth of student life can be seen in the varied incursions and excursions. This week, for example, our Year 8 students have been at Lyrebird Park in the Yarra Valley, which offers a very different experience to our students than last year’s Year 7 City Camp!

End of School Day Reminder

At this early point in the school year, I would like to remind all of our end of day routines. The school day ends at 3.10pm. This is the time that most students go home by bus or car. I write “most” as some families utilise the service of Big Childcare’s Out of Hours School Care program. At the end of day, the front of school and carpark crossing are staffed until 3.30pm. We do ask all families to pick up their children by this time. Please also be mindful that we do not have staff on yard duty in the College playgrounds at the end of the day and we do not have First Aid services available. This is because while the student day ends at 3.10pm the staff have scheduled meetings and preparation times after the school day.

Finally, I would like to welcome Miss Sherene Ng. Miss Ng is our new Year 1 teacher. Her first day will be on March 6, our School Photo Day.
