The “Chirality and Medicines” workshop was an engaging session for Year 12 Chemistry students, focusing on the principles of chirality in human systems. David Manallack, an Outreach Educator from Monash University, visited Heathdale Christian College’s Werribee campus and brought along modelling kits for hands-on participation.

Students gained insights into how the chirality of organic molecules affects the biochemical targets of drugs and their effectiveness. The program also encouraged students to explore careers in health sciences, particularly in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences.

Overall, it was an enjoyable and educational experience for the VCE Chemistry students.
