There was great participation by all students at the swimming carnival at MSAC on March 11. Many students were able to swim up an age group to replace older swimmers, and their times were competitive. Some even filled in at the last minute for injured students.
It was a tough competition this year as we had a restriction on the number of students we were able to take to swim. This meant there were not any students to spare to fill in if someone got injured or could not swim for some reason.
We were fortunate to have great success by students who had not been involved with training over the past 12 months due to covid.
I am very thankful for the students who willingly used their God-given ability to represent the school. Some may not have been the best the school had, but they were proud to be selected and gave their best effort.
Acknowledgement needs to be given to our two Year 12 representatives Anastasia G and Tiaan K who have represented the school for many years with great success – we will miss their contribution next year. We appreciate the devotion they give to their sport which allows them to compete at such a high level. It is also important to recognize their great organizational skills which allows them to complete their studies and represent the school. Well done, and thank you.
The carnival this year combined the Divisional and Championship competitions at the same time. Students who won medals by gaining one of the three fastest times in each event are as follows:

Heathdale competed in the A division and it was a close competition all day with Waverley-Wantirna. SO close, that we went into the relays at the end of the day, just 1 point ahead! However, Waverley had good depth in their swimmers and entered more teams than we did, and finished in first place overall, 31 points ahead of Heathdale.
I am very proud of the team we took away. They represented themselves and their school well. A special mention needs to go to Zach T, Ayush P, Brendan C, Akhil G, Josh B and Alex C who were vital members of our team, without whom we would not have been able to achieve so much success. Thank you.
A big thank you to the parents who came as our officials for the day, especially Mrs Kulkens-Bedian who has always been willing to serve Heathdale in this capacity for many years.
The final results of the day were:
U13 Girls Age Group Champions – Heathdale
U14 Girls Age Group Champions – Heathdale
A Division Places:
Waverley Wantirna – 1331 points
Heathdale – 1300 points
Heatherton – 1051 points
Medal Tally:
Heathdale – 36
Waverley Wantirna – 26
Maranatha – 12
Congratulations to all swimmers. Every race you swam edged us one step closer to gaining the most points we could for the day.
A team will now be selected to represent CSEN at the Victorian Sports Association Competition in May. All the best to those swimmers who will be fortunate to be selected.
