Looking Splendid

Last week’s school photo day marked a milestone as all students proudly wore the current uniform for the first time following the two-year transition period, reinforcing a sense of unity and school spirit.

Our school photo day last week was the first year we’ve seen all students in the new uniform. It looked amazing to see the new uniform completely rolled out and smartly worn by all our students. A special aspect of the day was the arrival (just in time!) of the Year 12 jackets for our Class of 2025.

Going forward, teachers will be ensuring that the correct wearing of the new uniform is maintained, with an emphasis on ensuring all students understand and are aware of the expectations for each day. We are grateful for parents’ support in uniform matters, as it requires collaboration between school and home to ensure that our students meet the requirements in this area of school life.

Wearing your school uniform correctly does not make you smarter in Maths or result in more fabulous English essays. However, it does enable a safe, ordered and respectful environment, giving students suitable clothing in which to focus on learning and play.

In our new uniform collection, we have allowed for a greater choice of coordinates for students to choose from and eliminated the requirement for a distinct winter or summer uniform. This level of choice gives students the ability to stay within the uniform requirements while still exercising a degree of control over what they wear each day.

Any uniform always requires some boundaries, and we know that this can be testing for students from time to time. Our aim when requesting adherence to uniform standards is not compliance for compliance’s sake, but a desire to foster willingness to follow instructions when required, show respect and uphold responsibilities. Again, we really value parents’ partnership in navigating this understanding with students and reinforcing the standard of uniform each day as part of the orderliness and consistency you value in the school you’ve chosen for your child.

If there is a day when your child cannot be in uniform due to circumstances beyond their control, please send an email to your child’s Homeroom Teacher, Coordinator or the Secondary Office to let us know so that we can issue a temporary uniform pass. If there is a need for a more ongoing exception or modification of the uniform standard due to a medical condition, etc., please also talk with us so that we can work through a good solution with you.

If you need a refresher on the new uniform’s guidelines, please consult the uniform information in the student diary or the Parent Centre section of our College website.
