From our Board Chair

A word from Heathdale Board Chairman, Trevor Sawyer, on the exciting new additions to our board.

Heathdale flower

Our Board plays a pivotal governance role in the life of Heathdale by consolidating their joint experience, vision and leadership. Although many times our Board Members may go unnoticed, mainly due to their meetings being held in the evening, their work is reflected in the ‘best practice’ governance of our College. Earlier this year, our Board confirmed the modernisation of the constitution of Heathdale Christian College Limited and more recently began looking at our Campus Masterplans. In late April, we held our Annual General Meeting which was a time to conclude one year and begin our next. Today I bring to you some changes in our Board for 2019-2020 year.

We extend our thanks to Amanda Newton who has stepped down from the role of Treasurer on the Executive, though will continue as a Board Member. We thank her for her professionalism and acumen that she gave to this position.

We confirmed Kalli Green into the position on the Executive as Treasurer. Kalli brings an accounting background to this role, combined with her commitment to Christian Education and being a current parent we know she’ll be an appreciated member to our Executive Team.

Linked to the changes in our Constitution, the position of Company Secretary will now be held by the Business Services Manager as a non-voting position. Thus, Paul Riddle will serve in this position. Darren Gardiner steps aside from Secretary but will continue to serve as an Executive Member.

We are also delighted to announce Patrick Pathinathan as a new Board Member. Patrick has a strong background in business and has three children who attend our College. We welcome him and know that his contribution to our Board will be very valued over the years. In addition to the Board makeup we have also added new faces to the Finance, and Grounds and Environs sub-committees.

Moving forward and beyond, we have commenced some preliminary planning on the College’s next Strategic Plan. It is one of the primary responsibilities that we as a Board must uphold. We will be working with Ross Grace as we produce a plan that will take us into the next decade.

On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank each one of you for your contribution to the College and your commitment to Christian Education.
