Book Week Dress-Up Day

This week we enjoyed a day of costumes, colour, books and character parades. There were plenty of Wallies – including one with his own human-sized book – Cinderellas, Bible characters, and tons of incredibly inventive costumes. It has been a delight to see our students embrace the theme ‘Reading is my Secret Power’ for Book Week. A huge thanks to parents and guardians for your preparation, support and enthusiasm for this event on the day. Special days like these are some of the most memorable for our students and it is a great way to promote reading and literature in classes. Next time you visit the Library, perhaps your child will uncover a new book that will further enhance and inspire their reading experiences.

Father’s Day Stall

If you are available to help with serving at the Father’s Day Stall on Friday 30th August, please contact the Junior School Office on 9974 4819. Your time as a volunteer is very much appreciated and can be counted towards your 20 hours of volunteer service. Students are invited to bring $4 to purchase one item per student for their dads, uncles or grandfathers who are part of their family. It is encouraged that students bring a named plastic bag to send the item home.

Excursion & Incursion Helpers

Thank you to all the parents who volunteer to assist with class excursions. We appreciate and welcome parent assistance in various areas of the College. As only a limited number of parent volunteers are able to attend excursions/incursions, it is not possible for all parents to attend even though they have registered their interest. The purpose for these curriculum-related events are to broaden student experiences and build their learning. Excursion locations are often valuable family outings too, and we encourage parents to enrich their child’s knowledge and experience by attending as a family outside of school hours. Thank you for your understanding.

Please be mindful of the following school procedures:

· Adding your name to the excursion helpers list does not guarantee attendance, this is simply an expression of interest. Volunteers will be notified prior to the excursion.

· Only parents with a Working with Children Check registered on the HCC database will be able to volunteer.

· Parent volunteers must agree to abide by College procedures with regard to privacy – e.g. No photos or correspondence on social media sites concerning our students, staff or other excursion details.

· Younger children should not accompany a parent helper for an excursion.

· Other parents are advised not to attend the venue as this may cause disruption to the smooth running of the event.

We understand that students love to have a parent attend excursions, however, we ask that the decision made by the teacher regarding parent attendance is respected as it is based on the need of the class.

Thank you for your kind consideration and support for our Excursions.

Parent & Guardian Prayer Group

We have been delighted to welcome parents to pray with us for our College families and staff every Monday fortnightly at 8.35am. Our next prayer time is on Monday 2nd September. Please come to the Junior School Office.

Junior School Music Concert

Students involved in Choir, Beginner Strings, Ensemble and selected music students will perform at the JS Music Concert on Tuesday 10th September, 1:30-3:00pm. Parents of participating students are invited to attend and enjoy the wonderful performances.

Safety & Wellbeing on Campus

Thank you to our many parents who travel slowly and patiently while on our campus. Young students are advised to make their way to cars only when accompanied by an adult. Thank you to all carpark users for your kind patience and care as we endeavour to make our site a safe place for all.
