This newsletter signals the close of another year of growth and achievement in the Melton campus.
It has been both a privilege and a wonderful opportunity to have my first year as principal coincide with the 10-year anniversary of the campus. This has been fortuitous for me and many others as it provided the opportunity to connect far more deeply to the heritage and traditions of the school than in any other year. There is such a rich foundational narrative that connects us to the Werribee campus, and the shared vision that affords us a powerful mission to serve the Western suburbs.
We have qualitatively grown this year as evidenced by a host of advances within our academic programs, and a string of sporting and cultural successes in local, district and state competitions.
We are poised for more wonderful stories to be added next year as we commence Year 12, incorporate an additional class at Year 7, expand to two classes in Year 10, and move into three revitalised buildings to support our senior secondary students.
I am delighted to announce to the community that the first student leadership of the campus was announced at a school assembly last week.
The Co-Captains of the Campus are Natasha Lakra and Juan Mathew.
The Campus Vice Captains are Laura Cook and Jye Schofield.
These students will attend the Compass Christian School leaders conference in Canberra in late January and will be formally commissioned in an assembly at the commencement of first term.
This last week saw our scholars, artists and musicians exhibit and perform at our art show, and the awards ceremonies for each year level, and the Year 6 graduation ceremony. The quality of these performances again testified that Christ is anchored at the centre of our community, and that there is an abundance of talent within our school.
I would like to thank all the staff for working with such dedication and professionalism in the cause of educating our students holistically. Many have laboured to foster growth in classroom learning, character development in all manner of places including the sporting fields and camps and sought to nurture the spiritual growth of students of all ages. Many others have served the same purpose by working behind the scenes to maintain the appearance and safety of our campus, create the efficient administration required for events to be successfully delivered, and to ensure that the school moves from strength to strength in all manner of ways. These men and women are our greatest resource, and I thank them for their tireless work.
Thanks also to you our parents for choosing Heathdale as the school to grow and develop your children. We are grateful to have the opportunity to be in partnership.
Christ lives and reigns, and it is my hope that your Christmas presents the opportunity to celebrate His lordship and to experience His love and grace in deeper and more meaningful ways.
