By participating in our upcoming Colour Splatacular Fun Run on Tuesday the 24th of May, we are partnering with Christian schools in Ukraine who have boots on the ground and are making a difference in the lives of their students and families in the face of overwhelming adversity happening in their nation. One of these schools is New Generation.
"The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:24)
New Generation School
New Generation School is a part of the Association of Christian School International and is based in Kyiv. Being in the heart of Ukraine, its students and families have been displaced and have have experienced feelings of helplessness, but they have not lost hope and are continuing to trust God for their future.
Earlier this year, most of them fled Kyiv earlier this year and were spread throughout Eastern Europe. Most of the fathers had to remain behind, so they pray they are reunited as families and that their beautiful school buildings will be intact if and when they can return to Kyiv.
In their displacement, students desired to help themselves and their school community, so they organised a readathon to raise money for their school. In the meantime, the Principal is trying to obtain some land or a building in Eastern Europe where a temporary school can be established. The families who are spread through a number of countries have said they will try to come to such a place to be together as a school community, which would give them all strength in unity and reunite friends who’ve been scattered.
The New Generation School community’s incredible resilience shows that there is hope and a way forward, and we pray that our upcoming Fun Run will be an encouragement to the children of Ukraine that they are not alone in their fight for survival and indeed their fight to thrive, grow and continue learning.
