Strategic Directions

Our founding visionary, Reverend Joe Westlake, told us never to overlook the past, but respect it as a springboard for our future.

Over the next 15 years we want to honour Reverend Joe’s words as we build upon that purpose. Shaping a culture that continually inspires students to learn, serve and enrich their community – not just locally, but across the world.

The following five key pillars of our Strategic Directions outline an agile and flexible approach to how our community can positively shape Heathdale Christian College now and for many years to come.

We hope and pray you will continue partnering with us as we build on our strengths and make bold and necessary changes to ensure our community flourishes today and in future generations.

The Village

Werribee Campus

Our Year 7 & 8 students are treated to an entirely new space purpose-built to cater for not only their learning, but their energy, too. We've installed two full-sized outdoor basketball courts, and marked out plenty of space for classic downball games. This space is also home to new staff offices so our teachers can stay nearby and two full-equipped science labs! The classrooms are lined with wide decking that meets in an undercover area at one end, and breaks out into a courtyard with lunchtime seating the other end. There's plenty of greenery and landscaping in its early stages and we're excited to see how the students and trees will grow over time.

Primary Art Room

Melton Campus

The Primary Art room has moved to a central location on campus, and our art teacher couldn't be happier about the new colourful space. "It is such a blessing and privilege to be able to start the school year in the new Primary Art room. The modern and cheerful interior is filled with natural light. My hope is that the new art space will inspire students to explore and develop their creative potential. The students are very excited about their new art room, which was evident as they entered the room for the first time with wonder and smiles on their faces. We are looking forward to creating beautiful artworks that will soon decorate the room!" (Inge Rossouw)

Food Technology

Melton Campus

It was with great expectation that the Food Tech room was opened for `business’ this week for the first time since Heathdale Melton commenced. A total refurbishment of a former kitchen space has resulted in a beautiful modern facility, carefully designed with the latest equipment. No wonder many eager faces have pressed against the window in recent times, excited for their turn to enjoy and learn the many skills and pleasures involved in Food Technology. Representative groups of students from Years 7, 8 and 9 participated in their first practical cooking class on Monday the 14th of February and were introduced to important routines, safety rules, teamwork and a theoretical study of food.

"It was pleasing to note the enthusiasm shown by the students as they produced their first recipe for the year and the positive comments that have flowed since. The Food Tech room is situated in a central part of the campus and in subsequent weeks and months, many pleasant cooking aromas will permeate the grounds and wet the appetites of those who wish they could enjoy the experiences gained by the participants in this worthy subject." (Elizabeth Nelson)

Canteen

Melton Campus

Lunchtime just got more exciting at Melton now that our brand-new canteen is up and running! Up until this point, we have partnered with neighbouring schools to deliver lunch orders to our Melton students. Having our own canteen means delicious lunch options are easily accessible and greater ease and convenience for staff and parents, especially with our online booking system. Our new provider across both of our campuses in 2022 is H & H Canteens, who intend to deliver a new level of service and tasty, healthy options for our College community to enjoy.
