Thank you for supporting Charlie & the Chocolate Factory
"Our 2024 Musical Production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a wonderful showcase of our talent students, with 54 students making up the cast and another 57 students involved in the orchestra, backstage crew, hair and makeup team, costume crew and front of house team. Not to mention several additional students who gave their time at school to help design and create props and paint sets.
Our musicals truly are a magnificent example of collaboration from both our students, staff and broader school community. We would like to congratulate and thank everybody who was involved in making the show such a success! Thank you also to all who came to watch. We had sold out shows, reaching a total of almost 2000 audience members!
The whole process created many wonderful memories - though we would have to say, that a favourite moment of ours was hearing the audience's reactions the first time the Oompa Loompas came on stage in each show! The genuine explosion of surprise, laughter and delight always made me beam from up in the bio-box!
And, as always, working with so many dedicated, encouraging, talented students and colleagues makes the big task of putting on a musical one joy-filled (though sometimes hectic) ride.
Bring on the next one!"

About the musical
Roald Dahl’s celebrated tale of Charlie Bucket and the eccentric confectioner, Willy Wonka, was reworked for the stage in 2013 with a new book and score from David Greig, Marc Shaiman, and Scott Wittman.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a new musical, and it is not a copy of the film. You may find that the songs, storyline and characters are different to what you know. This is to help make this story come to life on the stage, as books, films and stage shows all require different things to help make them special.
When young Charlie wins a golden ticket to the mysterious Wonka Chocolate Factory, it's the chance of a lifetime to feast on the sweets and chocolates that have always been right under his nose but unaffordable for the Bucket family. Could it also be his family’s route out of poverty? Along with the other winners -- Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee, and Augustus Gloop -- Charlie is swept inside of the mysterious factory with his Grandpa Joe. Inside, the winners encounter a magical world full of amazement, innovation, sugary treats, and, of course, Oompa-Loompas. But as the winners begin to let their greed and selfish nature's get the better of them, it seems that everything is not as sweet as it seems. Finally, Charlie is the last child standing -- the only child not to have succumbed to the sweet temptations of Willy Wonka’s magical world. His humble, loyal nature has not gone unnoticed by Mr. Wonka, and Charlie’s reward is more than he could ever have dreamed.
